Millions of fake masks and COVID tests were seized in Hungary in the STOP action
More than 3.5 million medical devices, medicines, disinfectants and protective equipment, mostly masks, were prevented from being placed on the market by the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) in the framework of the international STOP action held from 11 May to 12 July, the Director General of NAV’s customs officials said at a press conference in Budapest.
Bakai Kristóf Péter explained that the customs authorities inspected almost 200,000 vehicles and 400,000 people during the operation. In cooperation with the National Police Headquarters, the National Institute of Pharmacy and Food Health (OGYÉI) and the National Anti-Counterfeiting Board (HENT), counterfeit products of inadequate quality were seized.
