PENNY has helped thousands of people in need
This year, PENNY continued its more than ten-year-old tradition, once again joining the “Donation Convoy” initiative of the Hungarian Food Bank Association. The convoy organized on the occasion of World Food Day delivered HUF 45 million worth of donations, and 9,000 packages will be made for needy families in the coming days from the 30,000 kilogram shipment. The store chain contributed to the initiative with a truckload of food, including its own brand products.
As part of an event organized on the occasion of World Food Day, a 200-meter-long vehicle convoy crossed the city to help the needy. Among the foods offered by PENNY were the own brand Sissy, Salty and San Fabio products. The company actively participates in the fight against food waste, and its main goal is to support the needy, so this current offer is also part of its sustainability efforts.
“Our company has been committed to social responsibility for many years, and it is important for us to play a role in these types of initiatives. This donation not only helps the needy, but also supports the fight against food waste, which is also our main goal.”
– said Eszter Kazatsay, head of communications at PENNY in Hungary.
“Food waste is a global problem that adds to the hardships of those in need. The goal of our organization is to find and save food that can still be eaten, but has become unnecessary for some reason. Every year, we save millions of kilograms of food to deliver to those in need.”
– said András Nagygyörgy, the director responsible for external relations of the Hungarian Food Bank Association.
The Donation Convoy launched on the occasion of World Food Day once again highlighted the important role that cooperation and common goals play in dealing with social problems. Community support and commitment to sustainability are both priorities for PENNY, and the company will continue its cooperation with the Food Bank in the future.
