Henkel launching smart packaging solutions
At Henkel, we follow the three basic principles of prevention, reduction and recycling to minimize waste and thus reduce the negative impact of packaging on the environment.
Key Facts
Henel launched the following press release concerning their sustainable packaging:
Our aim is to reduce the quantity of packaging material in the entire product life cycle without impacting the quality, performance or safety of our products.
To achieve this, we continually strive to develop smart packaging solutions that minimize the amount of materials we use and rely on materials for which public recycling systems are available.
Transport packaging is developed so that pallets and containers can be optimally packed. For our industrial customers, we offer multi-use systems such as reusable transport containers and secondary packaging.
Our packaging targets for 2020:
All business units are working to reduce packaging weight. Our targets for 2020 include reducing packaging weight per sales unit by 20 percent (base year 2010).
We want to increase the proportion of recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) in bottles, and recycled aluminum in cans.
We want to reach more than 300 million consumers through more targeted information on recycling.
