eKÁER is ten years old, more than one hundred million shipments have been checked
The electronic road freight traffic control system (eKÁER) went into full operation ten years ago, and more than 106 million shipments have since undergone screening, the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) told MTI on Saturday.
They wrote that the online system created to curb VAT fraud involving travel has proven effective and has been studied by many countries in the past decade.
In addition to international interest, the effectiveness of eKÁER is also supported by statistics. In the past three years, the tax office has revealed a net tax difference of approximately 20 billion forints, specifically thanks to eKÁER data, and the amount of default fines imposed for violations of the law exceeded 4.8 billion forints, they explained.
It was recalled that the system has undergone numerous refinements and changes since 2015: the administration related to notifications has been significantly simplified, risky products have been modified, the scope of exemptions has been expanded, and sanctions have been eased.
