Eleven new stores to back Mercadona’s growth in Portugal
Spanish retailer Mercadona plans to open 11 new stores in Portugal in 2024, increasing its presence in the country. The expansion would bring the chain’s total number of stores to 60 and extend its reach to two new districts (Guerda, Évora). To support its growing network, in the second half of 2024 the retailer will open its largest logistics centre on the Iberian Peninsula, in Almeirim.
