Corporate lending to companies remained around an eleven-year high
The growth rate of euro area corporate lending slowed, but remained close to an eleven-year high in July.
According to a monthly report published by the European Central Bank (ECB) on Thursday
Lending to non-financial corporations increased by 7.0 per cent year-on-year, decelerating from 7.1 per cent in June and 7.3 per cent in May.
In the spring, when the eurozone economy was paralyzed by the coronavirus epidemic, companies tried to seize every opportunity, from drawing on credit lines to state aid through extremely cheap loans provided by the ECB, but to ensure that their solvency was maintained.
