Magazine: Nine out of ten households buy mineral water
According to GfK Hungária’s ConsumerScan survey, ninety percent of Hungarian households bought mineral water in 2010. Compared with 2009, the category’s reach expanded by 5 percentage points. Average volume purchased per buying household grew by 4 percent and surpassed 300 litres. Carbonated mineral waters made up for 60 percent of consumption but its dominance is gradually fading. Flavoured waters doubled their markets share, growing from 1 to 2 percent. 7 percent of households bought medicinal mineral waters in 2010 – these constituted 4 percent of value and 1 percent of volume sales. Private labels realised 40 percent of volume sales and 30 percent of value sales.
