Net wages escalated by ten percent
At enterprises employing a minimum of 5 people and at budgetary institutions, gross average wages were 3.7 percent higher and net average wages improved by 10.3 percent in the first two months of 2010, compared to the same period in 2009. KSH’s report also reveals that in the competitive sector real wages grew by 3.5 percent, while at budgetary institutions they augmented by 4.9 percent. The number of people employed in January-February 2010 was 2,613,000 (740,000 in the budgetary sector and 1,777,000 in the competitive sector) – 2.6 percent less than in the same period a year earlier.
Those working full time earned a gross average of HUF 200,200 (HUF 197,900 at enterprises and HUF 209,100 at budgetary institutions). At the level of the national economy, the average net wage was equivalent to HUF 131,600 (HUF 95,200 for blue-collar workers and HUF 168,400 for white-collar workers). On average, net wages were 10.3 percent higher than a year ago: up 9.8 percent in the competitive sector and up 11.3 percent in the budgetary sector.
