BUSINESS AND OPERATION ISSUES
The general meeting of the OKSZ reviewed – among other things – the management and operational framework of the Association, thus approving the financial report for 2023 and the program for 2024. Among the program goals for 2024 is the firm representation of the interests of the commercial profession, the maintenance and strengthening of the existing professional partnership with the government during the preparation of legislation.
In 2023, store retailing will have one of its most difficult years behind it, since in addition to record high inflation, the opportunities of the key players in the daily goods trade have been extremely limited by measures such as the extra profit tax or the obligation to sell at the purchase price and below the purchase price.
The sector data for 2024 give hope for a moderate increase in sales volume. The forecasted growth of the gross domestic product may lead to a strengthening of internal consumption, thus an increase in the VAT revenues of the budget. This process can be greatly strengthened by the end of June’s end of mandatory promotions.
Keeping inflation under control, raising the standard of living, and improving the balance of the budget is our common interest. For this, the stability of the daily operating framework of commercial enterprises and the increase of their financial room for maneuver are essential. All of this can significantly contribute to the healthy further strengthening of market competition and thus to the reduction of household expenses of customers.
