Market of detergents above HUF 20 billion
Retail sales of household detergents show continuous increase and have exceeded HUF 20 billion. Overall growth amounted to 4 per cent in the November 2006–October 2007 period. Sales of washing up liquids account for HUF 9 billion and show an increase of 5 per cent. Sales of toilet cleaners expanded by 10 per cent, approaching HUF 5 billion in 2007. The HUF 3 billion market of kitchen and bathroom cleaners shows expansion of only 1 per cent. Sales of cleaning agents show a drop of 4 per cent, whereas the sales of floor cleaners expanded by 2 per cent. In terms of value, hyper markets dominate practically all segments. The 401–2500 square meter channel holds the best positions in toilet cleaners and wipe tissue with a market share of over 20 per cent. Regarding sales of cleaning agents and window cleaners, maximum 400 square meter stores hold a market share of 33 and 32 per cent respectively. It is notable that drugstores are improving their market position, holding a market share of 42 per cent in wipe tissue and 31 in floor cleaners. Conventional channels account for 35 per cent of the market of manual washing up liquids.
