TIM: almost all registered students are already working
16-25-year-olds who received government wage subsidies for vacation employment have been able to apply since mid-June and will start working from the beginning of July. So far, 19,312 high school or university students have registered for this year’s call for the summer student work program, and 19,144 have already found holiday jobs with around four thousand employers – the Ministry of Technology and Industry (TIM) announced in its Facebook post on Tuesday.
Based on requests from employers, there are still at least another 2,500 places to rent at local governments, in agriculture or tourism and hospitality, they said. Starting this year, those under the age of 25 should even spend part of the summer working, since they do not have to pay personal income tax on their earnings from January, and they can keep more of it for their own purposes.
In the summer student work program, the employment of students between the ages of 16 and 25, full-time students, who are not employed, and who do not have an entrepreneurial legal relationship can be supported. Local authorities are reimbursed in full for up to two months of employment for a maximum of 6 hours a day. For companies, a maximum of 8 hours of employment per day can be supported, and the program covers three quarters of the wage.
