Sainsbury's local gets high strength alcohol ban
A Sainsbury's Local store in Ealing, has been banned from selling high strength lagers, beers and ciders.
Sainsbury's accepted a proposed police condition to remove
all high strength beers and ciders from the shop and to not sell them in the
future.
The convenience store lies within a Controlled Drinking Zone
that had been established due to the high volume of street drinkers and alcohol
related anti-social behaviour in the area.
A controlled drinking zone is an area in which police may
stop anyone with an open alcoholic drink who they think is causing a nuisance,
and confiscate it.
The store was given an extra hour in the morning, allowing
it to start selling at 7am, but it will still have to stop at 11pm.
