Three times more television ads
In February 2016 and January 2017 shops sold cheese for more than HUF 88 billion. The cheese category is the third biggest from the 90 audited by Nielsen, after processed meat and beer. Value sales rose 7 percent and volume sales got 5 percent better in this period. We bought 80 percent of cheese (in value) in stores bigger than 400m². Value sales of manufacturer brands worsened by 1 percentage point to 63 percent. Calculated at rate card price, cheese was advertised on television for HUF 5.5 billion in 2016 – nearly three times more than in 2015.
