EU testing rice from the US
Food safety experts of EU member countries have decided to begin testing rice shipments from the US to stop deliveries of genetically engineered products. The costs of testing in European harbours will be borne by the US. Import regulations regarding rice from the US have become stricter since traces of LL601 genetically engineered rice have been found in several shipments in European harbours. American authorities do not regard LL601 as potentially hazardous.
