In 2016 Tesco expanded the Tesco Online Shopping and the Scan&Shop services, introduced Tesco Finest beers specialties and further improved the quality of baked goods. Tesco Hungary also exported more than 2 million bottles of wine. Operations director Zsolt Pártos told that since 2014 they gave HUF 2.4 billion worth of leftover food – 5,575 tons – to people in need.
Last year the retailer also launched the ‘You choose, we help’ programme to support local communities. At the moment there are 206 Tesco stores in Hungary and the company employs nearly 20,000 people. From the more than 1,100 suppliers that they work with 80 percent are Hungarian. Mr Pártos revealed that this year Tesco’s top priority is innovation. The retailer’s goal is to review, simplify and improve its processes.
