TESCO launches home insulation service in the UK
In the UK, Tesco has launched an energy efficiency service, open to all homeowners, residential landlords and private tenants.
The retailer is offering insulation for
loft or wall cavities for a flat rate of GBP199, although this price
is subject to survey and may be higher for people in unusually large
properties or those requiring additional work. It will be free to
customers aged 70 or more and those on qualifying state benefits.
Tesco said it had insulated 50 homes in a trial over the summer and
now hoped to insulate half a million UK homes in the next three
years. Tesco's Community and Government Director, David North, said:
"Ensuring that your home is properly insulated is the single
biggest thing you can do to save energy and help fight climate
change. According to the Energy Saving Trust, the average household
could save up to GBP275 every year by insulating their loft space
and cavity walls. It's an investment well worth making."
