Tesco joins the race for pension voucher shoppers
Following Lidl and Aldi, Tesco has also launched a special promotion tied to the new pension food vouchers: a HUF 30,000 voucher can be worth up to HUF 34,500 at the chain.
The postal delivery of the HUF 30,000 food vouchers for pensioners began in early September, and major retail chains are announcing additional discounts linked to them. According to Tesco’s Monday statement, when redeeming the vouchers, customers receive a 10 percent immediate discount, plus an additional 5 percent coupon based on the spent amount, which can be used on any product in-store. This means that a HUF 30,000 voucher can be worth as much as HUF 34,500.
The discount will be available until the end of the year, with special regard to the Christmas season, when household expenses typically rise. Tesco emphasized that voucher redemption is fast and simple: discounts are applied automatically at checkout, and coupons are handed over by cashiers at the end of the purchase.
The competition is heating up: Lidl offers HUF 500 coupons for voucher redemptions above HUF 5,000, while Aldi provides a HUF 1,000 coupon for purchases of at least HUF 8,000, even if paid partly with the pension voucher. Pensioners can thus benefit from extra savings at several chains.
