Tesco – Irish suppliers to worry
Tesco lost a small bit of its market share in the last 12 weeks ending on June 14 compared to its 30.9 percent market share of last year. According to new datas Tesco's market share is 30.8 percent in its motherland.
Aldi, Lidl and Nettó discount chains could not increase last year's 5.9 percent share either. J Sainsbury's and William Morris' market share however, increased to a 16.1 and a 11.6 percent level. Suppliers can worry because of the large market weight of the Tesco. Tesco's own branded products supersedes the goods of the local companies on the shelves.According to Economists, if this trend continues, up to 100 thousands of job will be lost in the Irish food industry – reports Portfolio.hu.
