Foodora expands: it brought fast delivery to 21 new cities this year
Foodora, the food and grocery ordering platform, launched its service in 21 new cities in 2025 with the opening of the Cegléd delivery zone in December. This significant expansion confirms foodora’s commitment to serving smaller but dynamic urban centers, proving its ability to respond flexibly and innovatively even in an extraordinary market environment.
Foodora’s continued expansion demonstrates the strong demand for food and grocery ordering and its role as an important economic catalyst in individual regions. Foodora’s delivery service became available in Cegléd in December, bringing the service to 21 new cities this year alone. Thus, in addition to Cegléd, Dunaharaszti, Ecser, Esztergom, Gyömrő, Gyula, Hajdúböszörmény, Hajdúszoboszló, Hatvan, Hódmezővásárhely, Kiskunhalas, Komló, Maglód, Nagykovácsi-Remete, Orosháza, Paks, Pécel, Szentes, Tata, Velence and Veresegyház have also been added to the map. The new cities are not just dots on the map, but represent numerous new earning opportunities and support for local entrepreneurs.
Digitalization opportunity for small businesses
Foodora creates immediate, flexible earning opportunities for self-employed courier partners in every new settlement. During the 2025 expansion alone, more than 150 new couriers joined the courier community, offering local residents a reliable source of income and flexible working hours. In addition, it provides local restaurants and shops – many of which are small, family-owned businesses – with an important digital showcase and logistics infrastructure that not all businesses can afford. With the foodora app, they can connect with thousands of new customers, expand their reach and stabilize their revenues.
On a sustainable growth path
“In such a rapidly changing industry, the successful launch of foodora in 21 new markets in just one year is a huge achievement. This expansion is not only about market share, but also about deeper integration into local communities. We are proud to save our customers time and, more importantly, to be a reliable engine of local economic growth, supporting everyone from independent couriers to corner bakeries,”
– said Péter Garay, CEO of foodora.
Along with the growth strategy, the company is continuously developing its services, to satisfy the needs of the diverse population of the new cities long after entering the market.
Péter Garay added that since the beginning of the year, more than 150,000 orders have already been received by local restaurants through foodora in 21 new cities that have been gradually launched. In addition, foodora users ordered food or other household products with every 8th order, meaning that in addition to hot food, more and more people are ordering other products as well, since they can get any basic goods within 30 minutes.
