Facts about food processing and food safety
In Hungary, in 2010, the gross production value of food processing has reached 2,036 billion HUF – among other things, this was the major focus of the discussion held by Lajos Bognár, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development at the Parliament's National Food Security Sub-Committee meeting.
He also added that the value of exports last year reached 648 billion forints. The number of employees in this area is slightly more than 97 thousand. The number of companies employing more than 4 persons was slightly more than 2673, 96 percent of which are small businesses, while 80 percent belonged to the category of micro enterprises, according to the Central Statistical Office (KSH).
