Early winter minuses in consumer prices
In December consumer prices were 0.9 percent lower than one year ago. Compared with November 2014, consumer prices fell 0.7 percent on average, and groceries cost 0.7 percent less in December than in November. Sugar’s price reduced 4.9 percent and seasonal grocery products – potato, fresh fruits and vegetables – became 3.1 percent cheaper. There was a 5.9-percent decrease in the price of motor fuels. If compared with December 2013, grocery prices lowered by 0.6 percent. However, consumers had to pay 1.2 percent more for alcoholic drinks and tobacco products. On the contrary, motor fuel prices plunged 10.4 percent.
