Milk without cream
GfK Hungária has launched a series of studies with Agrár Európa Kft. Part one deals with the condition of the dairy sector on almost 100 pages. It was presented at a press conference held on 29. July. Prospects regarding the sector are quite mixed. The shrinking of livestock seems to be coming to a halt and milk production is also expected to stabilise soon. Supply prices are expected to average HUF 80-82 in 2008. Though demand is growing in the world market, prospects for growth are limited inside the EU. EU market regulation mechanisms are changing constantly, in order to follow developments in the world market. According to forecasts, EU production will stagnate till 2014, with a 3 per cent drop in production among new member states. The retail of dairy products is getting increasingly concentrated, with modern distribution channels accounting for 57 percent of total sales.
