Pasteurized cow and goat cheeses from France have been recalled by traders, the National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority (NKFH) warned in a statement sent to MTI on Friday.

According to the information, based on a report received through the European Union’s Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF), microbiological contamination (Listeria Monocytogenes) was detected in pasteurized cow and goat cheeses from France, and some of the products also arrived in Hungary.

The National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority contacted the companies concerned, who, in cooperation with the NKFH, and with the health protection of consumers in mind, immediately took the necessary measures within their own competence and ensured that the affected items were recalled from consumers. The authority is monitoring the measures taken by the companies, the statement highlighted.

The recall affects 1 kilogram BUCHE CHEVRE LA BELLE DU BOCAGE with different shelf life, 250 gram Camembert from the Everyday brand, and CAM.PERE ALEXANDRE *BOITE BOIS* 240G X12 products.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause a bacterial disease, listeriosis. Healthy people often survive the infection without symptoms, but in weakened bodies – in the case of infants, pregnant women, and people with weakened immune systems – a serious illness can develop – the announcement said.

The authority asks that anyone who has purchased the affected products not consume them.
