AI is changing work, decision-making and industries faster than most companies can react – this was one of the key messages of the opening day of TECHXPO 2025. At the four-day technology and innovation summit held in Budapest, domestic and international experts from leading global companies such as BlackRock, Huawei, Magyar Telekom, Siemens and Schneider Electric shared their thoughts on the latest technology trends.

A deep gap has opened between managers and employees in the perception of AI

In her presentation, BlackRock‘s head of engineering, Annamária Vértessy Koller, drew attention to the gap that has emerged within companies regarding the perception of AI. While three-quarters (73%) of senior managers believe that they are using AI strategically, this ratio is only 47% among employees. Almost exactly the same distribution characterizes the assessment of the success of AI projects introduced in the past year (75%/45%).

89% of managers say their company has a generative AI strategy, while a third of employees are not even aware of it. The gap between developers and managers is so great that 63% of professionals feel that management has no idea about the obstacles that actually slow down daily AI work.

Global gear shift: AI is rewriting entire industries

Huawei Cloud Europe Vice President, Janice Peng, spoke about the explosive acceleration of digitalization: the spread of multi-cloud operations, the sharp increase in the number of smart vehicles and the appetite for computing capacity require new standards in all industries.

According to Siemens‘s Hungarian CEO, Tamás Jeránek, industrial AI is still at the beginning of the journey, with huge development potential. The company is working with 1,400 AI experts and thousands of patents to ensure that manufacturing and energy systems operate stably in an AI-driven world.

The President of Schneider Electric, Zsolt Veres, drew attention to the energy background processes: the energy demand of AI systems is growing so rapidly that the load on data centers requires a completely new energy management model. According to him, one of the keywords for the coming years will be efficiency.

Mobility towards 2035: Europe is cautious, China is racing

The mobility panel organized within the framework of TECHXPO 2025 strikingly presented the differences in the global automotive industry. China has almost completely switched to electric vehicles in a few decades, while Europe is trying to keep up with longer development cycles and a strict regulatory environment.

According to experts, a complete electric transition is not expected in Europe by 2035, but in terms of powertrains, there will also be an increase in the proportion of electric and hybrid vehicles at the expense of internal combustion engines. Another big question is whether European brands, with their slower development cycle but higher quality, can remain competitive against faster innovating Chinese manufacturers.
