The Consumer Protection Authority inspected taxis, entertainment venues and restaurants
The consumer protection authority inspected taxis, entertainment venues and catering establishments, and as a result of the continuous inspections, the proportion of objectionable trading practices is decreasing year by year – the National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority (NKFH) announced.
It was announced that government agencies under the professional guidance of the authority are increasingly inspecting catering establishments, entertainment venues, festivals and taxis, and the official inspections include examining compliance with the regulations applicable to certain tourism services and filtering out commercial practices that unfairly influence customer behavior.
The government agencies inspected 279 catering establishments during the peak tourist period, and discovered violations of the law in every third case. The most common problems were the lack of credibility of the scales and the lack of indication of the selling price or unit price. In a smaller number of cases, the catering establishment did not display the price list outside the entrance of the shop, the customer book was not easily accessible to consumers, and the electronic payment option was not provided. The authority also carried out test purchases at both shops and occasional vendors in public areas. Objections were found in 14 percent of the nearly 600 inspections.
It was reported that deficiencies were found in only 5 percent of the entrepreneurs providing private taxi services – primarily in connection with the incorrect indication of prices -, but during the inspections combined with the test purchase, the objection rate was 22 percent. In these cases, the most common was the failure to fulfill the invoicing obligation, or the service providers applied a tariff that did not comply with the official price and the tariff table.
