There will be no Hungarian potato left by spring
Data from the Agricultural Economics Research Institute (AKI) and KSH’s market price information system (PÁIR) reveal that the production price of potato in July-October 2012 was 28 percent higher than in the same period last year because less potato was harvested. Experts say that Hungary’s quality potato stock will run out by January-February 2013. In the Week 28-46 period the production price of cabbage was 145 percent above the level of the same period in 2011, carrot cost 17 percent more and parsley root become 14 percent more expensive. In October 2012 the average production price of raw milk was HUF 86.41/kg, up 6 percent from the previous month. Raw milk’s export price in Hungary was HUF 95.47/kg, 2 percent higher than in September.
