Retail was still in a bad patch last year
Volume sales in retail diminished by 0.3 percent last November, in comparison with November 2009. Volume sales in the first eleven months of 2010 fell by 2.5 percent – reports KSH. Domestic retail network and mail order companies generated sales of HUF 6,689 billion in the first eleven months, of which HUF 639 billion was realised in November. Food and food type product stores realised 44 percent of retail sales; the turnover of food stores practically remained the same in November 2010 and decreased by 2.2 percent in the first eleven months of 2010. In November hypermarkets, supermarkets and small shops (which represent 90 percent of sales) saw their sales decline by 1 percent.
