Last year, cereal production fell by 9 percent
Last year, 12.3 million tons of grain was produced on nearly on 2.6 million acres, on 11 percent smaller area than in the previous year. The yield decreased by more than 9 percent, compared to 2009 – reports the Central Statistical Office.
The main crops were reduced such as wheat, corn, potatoes and oil seed rape crop. although sugar beet crop was slightly higher than in the previous year. According to the Central Statistical Office; wheat production decreased by 15, maize by 8 percent, compared to a year earlier.
