Annual inflation was 4.2 percent last year
Consumer prices in 2009 increased by an average 4.2 percent. In last year December it was standing 5.6 percent higher than in the December 2008 and have not changed, compared to November 2009 – Reports the Central Statistical Office (KSH).
Consumer prices in 2008 increased by an average 6.1 percent, in December 2008 they were 3.5 percent higher than in December 2007.
The core inflation was 0.1 percent higher in December 2009, in a 12-month comparison, it was 4.8 percent. The annual average basic increase was 4.1 percent.
Last year, the price of household energy increased with the highest extent by 8.2 percent. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco increased by 7.5, services by 4.6 and food by 4.4 percent.
