There was a 26% food inflation last year
Data by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reveals that consumer prices soared 14.5% on average in 2022, and the price increase was the biggest in the food category at 26%. Compared with December 2021, food prices were up 44.8% in December 2022. Cheese prices augmented by 83.2%, eggs cost 82.7% more, bread became 81.1% more expensive, we had to pay 79.4% more for butter and dairy spreads, and dairy product prices grew by 79.2%. Compared with November 2022, consumer prices were up 1.9% and food prices got 2.1% bigger. //
