Spar (Austria) reports 10% rise in group sales for 2008
SPAR (Austria) sales for 2008 grow to EUR10.88 billion from EUR9.89 billion in 2007, also including revenue generated through SES (SPAR European Shopping Centres).
SPAR(Austria)'s sales without SES were
up 10.3% to EUR9.50 billion from EUR8.61 billion ) in 2007. Domestic
sales (without sport/leisure retailer Hervis) were up 6.4% to EUR4.8
billion from EUR4.51 billion in 2007. Sales via Aspiag (Austria SPAR
International AG) in Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy and
Slovenia adjusted for currency effects were up 17.7% to EUR4.29
billion from EUR3.72 billion in 2007. SPAR (Austria)'s sport /
leisure store banner Hervis generated sales of EUR410 million in
2008, up 7.3% from EUR380 million in 2007. For 2009, the retailer
plans to invest EUR500 million in its home market of Austria and
abroad.
