Magazine: Traditional marketplaces hold on
According to a study conducted by GfK Hungária and Agrár Európa Kft., fruits and vegetables are practically bought by all Hungarian households, who spend HUF 226 billion on them a year. Fresh fruits and vegetables are still frequently bought at traditional marketplaces or purchased from growers or street vendors – 27 percent of total volume sales are realised at these three places. Most often pepper, tomato and banana are purchased. We buy vegetables weekly and fruits in every 10 days. If we look at total volumes we can see that we buy the most from apple, melon (25 and 17 percent from all fruit sales) and potatoes (36 percent from all vegetable sales).
