Carrefour Supports French Fishermen During Crisis
As COVID-19 impacts the global food chain, Carrefour is taking action to support the French fishing industry.
In an attempt to mitigate falling prices, the French retailer has committed to guaranteed pre-pandemic prices and purchase volumes on certain species of fish.
The volumes and purchase price commitments will extend to ten major species, including mackerel, sardines, ling and whiting, the retailer said.
The move comes in an attempt to ensure the survival of the fishing industry, which has suffered an estimated 50% loss in demand due to the decline of the catering sector.
