The poultry, pork and beef industry waiting for support

The Livestock and Meat Interprofessional Organization and Marketing Board (VHT) and the Poultry Product Council (BTT) proposes the increase of national fundings, ensuring favorable-rate loans and a significant VAT decrease in case of eggs.

The leaders of the two professional associations held a joint press conference in Budapest on Thursday. They spoke about the situation of the poultry, pork and beef farmers, among the extremely hot weather conditions of the recent weeks.

According to Németh Antal, Chairman of the VHT, the heat caused a 3.5 to 4.0 billion HUF damage until now to the pork and beef sector, and it is expected to grow further. According to Csorbai Attila, president of the BTT, the poultry farmers’ have suffered about 4.15 billion HUF losses due to the hot weather. Both professional organizations’ leaders have agreed that in order to maintain the sectors’ stability a prompt government intervention is needed. (MTI)
