There is no rural development without subsidies
European farmers can not operate profitable without subsidies and support. But these must be spent on increasing competitiveness and income must be generated – Győrffy Balázs, president of the National Chamber of Agriculture stressed at a round table discussion.
Győrffy Balázs, the president of the NAK, said at the beginning of the conversation: European farmers are not able to operate profitably due to the strict EU regulations without subsidies. Accordingly, subsidies are needed, but these should be used to improve competitiveness and to generate income. The resources available are to be spent on development, as European and Hungarian agriculture will be sustainable this way. For effective and successful support policies clear and definite ideas are needed as they can only create value until the countryside remains sustainable the NAK president added. (MTI)
