Turkey mortality is decreasing and their weight is increasing more even with less feed, as a result of the recently concluded joint feed development project of Zala-Cereália Kft. and HR-Pharma Kft. from Zalaszentgrót – the managing director of Zala-Cereália informed MTI.

According to László Király, in 2022, the two companies forming the consortium were awarded a non-refundable European Union grant of nearly 683 million forints within the framework of the Economic Development and Innovation Operative Program Plus for the development of a feed product line and production technology, which improves protein utilization and can also help prevent respiratory diseases caused by feed dust.

The managing director said: Zala-Cereália Kft., founded in 1993, is also involved in feed production and poultry farming on its own farms, supplying about 40 turkey farms with its products. Out of the 6.5 million turkeys currently raised in Hungary annually, they provide for the feeding of about 1.3 million

Thanks to the development, which also included the purchase of the necessary equipment, it was possible to reduce the mortality rate of the turkey population from approximately 4.5 percent to around 3.5 percent by using the new type of feed.
