Carrefour expands in Romania
Due to the changing market circumstances, the French retail chain, Carrefour expands its network of supermarkets in Romania while reposes a few of its hypermarket plans.
The Carrefour has slowed its hypermarket network expansion. While earlier, the opening of 7 new stores were planned on the medium term, this has now been reduced to three or four. However, at least 5 supermarkets will be introduced in new sites like in Bákó, in Craiova, in Temesvár, in Beszterce and in Torda. The new stores will have a total space of 600-700 square meters. Over the past two years, Romanian retailers spent 1 billion euros on network development. This year, however, this amount is expected to be only 212-248 million euros – reports Portfolio.hu.
