dm suspends express delivery service in Germany after partner insolvency
dm has temporarily halted its express home‑delivery service in Germany after its logistics partner, Pickshare, filed for insolvency and ceased operations, according to a report by Lebensmittel Zeitung.
The option has been unavailable in the retailer’s online shop since December.
The drugstore chain launched express delivery in 2021 in selected cities, allowing customers to receive their orders the same day or the following day via cargo bike. After a successful pilot phase, the service was gradually expanded — but the sudden collapse of Pickshare has forced dm to pause the offering. Marcel Rieser, responsible for assortment and digital business at dm, told LZ that it is unclear if or when the service will return, though the company is already searching for alternatives.
dm says the suspension is manageable. While usage steadily increased across the eight delivery areas, overall demand grew less dynamically than for in‑store express pickup. In Austria, dm continues to offer same‑day delivery in four cities through a partnership with Wolt and is evaluating further expansion.
