Carp fishing is necessary in the Balaton
Carp fishing is necessary in the Lake Balaton, because still 1.5-3 thousand tons of carps can be found in the lake, and carp breeding in the surrounding fishponds should be banned, because the supply comes to the Lake Balaton from those ponds – G. Tóth László, head of the Balaton Limnological Institute of the Ecological Research Center of theHungarian Academy of Sciences told MTI.
The professor believes that in the future it can be achieved that the lake's fish stocks to be self-sustaining – (ie fish plantings, and even fish stock controlling will not be necessary) – but first the non-native carps should “be stamped out” because they are unwanted in the lake in terms of hydro biologist and ecologist perspective.
