Slovenia sees increase in tourist arrivals in first six months of the year
In the first six months of the year, 2.8 million tourists visited Slovenia and spent 6.9 million guest nights, an 8.4 percent increase in the number of guests and 7.7 percent increase in guest nights compared to the same period last year, the country’s statistical office announced on Friday.
Domestic tourists spent 1.0 percent more guest nights in the country, while those from abroad spent 11 percent more guest nights.
The most foreign tourists came from Germany, followed by Italians and Austrians.
The most popular destinations were mountain resorts, where tourists spent 1.9 million guest nights, followed by spas with 1.5 million, then seaside resorts and Ljubljana, both with 1.1 million guest nights.
In June alone, Slovenia registered 794,737 tourists, a 17.2 percent increase compared to the previous year. They generated 1.97 million guest nights, which is 19.5 percent more than in June 2024.
Of these, the number of foreign tourists was 639 thousand, which is 20 percent more than in June 2024. They generated more than 1.5 million guest nights, which is a quarter more than a year earlier. Almost 40 percent of foreign tourists stayed in Ljubljana, Piran or Bled.
