In Slovakia, the annual inflation was 10.5 percent last year
In Slovakia, the annual average inflation was 10.5 percent in 2023, with food prices rising most significantly, by an average of 17.5 percent, according to the data of the Slovak Statistical Office (SÚSR), the details of which were presented by TASR, the Slovak public service news agency, on Monday.
Inflation in Slovakia hovered around 15 percent in the first months of 2023, and slowed down to around 6 percent by the end of the year. Transportation prices increased the least, by 1.2 percent annually, compared to 15.7 percent a year earlier.
The prices of sugar, sweets, spices, fish and vegetables rose the fastest among food items last year, between 15 and 24 percent.The prices of meat, milk and cheese, eggs and bread rose between 17 and 19 percent.
The price of oils and fats increased by around 5 percent, significantly slower than a year earlier, when inflation in this segment was 40 percent.
