Slovakia does not restrict the flow of spirits because of the methyl alcohol poisonings
The situation is not dramatic, so no restrictions on alcohol marketing is needed in Slovakia – Zuzana Zvolenská Slovak health minister told on Monday in connection with the methyl alcohol poisonings occurred on the previous day in eastern Slovakia.
On Sunday, after a family celebration ten people were checked at a clinic in Prešov with suspected methyl alcohol poisoning. Two people have left the hospital, eight people were kept under observation. Methyl alcohol poisoning is suspected in the case of four men, but their condition is satisfactory.
The poisoning was due to home-brewed plum brandy made in the Czech Republic.
