Food prices are also rising the most in Slovakia
Inflation reached another peak in Slovakia, rising to 14.9 percent in October from 14.2 percent in September. This means that the rate of inflation in our northern neighbor has not been this high for 22 years. Prices have risen every month since January.
Since 2000, prices in Slovakia have not risen as fast as they did last month. In October, the Statistical Office measured an annual price increase of 14.9 percent. Food prices, non-alcoholic beverages, housing costs and energy prices rose the most. These account for nearly half of household expenses.
Compared to October last year, food prices rose by 26.8 percent, and a similar, double-digit price increase was also observed in the case of non-alcoholic beverages. The prices of bread and cereals, meat, milk, cheese and eggs have increased by 30 percent since last Octo
