This year’s winter tourist season in Austria has almost been destroyed
In the winter tourism season of 2020/2021, from November to February, the Austrian hotel industry registered 3.49 million guest nights, 50.32 million ie 93.5 percent less than a year earlier. “The winter tourist season was almost completely wiped out by the coronavirus pandemic,” commented Tobias Thomas, CEO of Statistik Austria, on the latest data. “The 3.49 million guests stayed in Austria almost exclusively came for medical or business purposes,” he pointed out.
