Péter Szijjártó: Hungary launches another four billion forint agricultural support program in Bosnia and Herzegovina
The government is launching another four billion forint support program in Bosnia and Herzegovina, under which local agricultural enterprises can purchase equipment manufactured in Hungary, and everyone wins, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó announced in Banja Luka on Thursday.

According to a statement from the ministry, the minister stated at a joint press conference with the former president of the Republic of Srpska in Bosnia, Milorad Dodik, that the program was a huge success in the area, where the Hungarian government previously provided ten billion forints worth of support to 1,834 small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises, which thus purchased equipment manufactured in Hungary worth a total of 14 billion forints. “54 Hungarian companies sold 4,100 agricultural equipment to the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Every single forint was spent in Hungary, and every single Hungarian forint was used here, in the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” he informed. “Everyone won. Hungary won, the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina also won. That is why the decision was made that Hungary will continue its program to support agricultural investments here,” he announced. “We are launching another four billion forint support program, within the framework of which small and medium-sized enterprises engaged in agriculture can purchase equipment manufactured in Hungary in order to increase and modernize their performance,” he added. Péter Szijjártó then also reported that from the next academic year, fifty students from the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina can study at our universities on scholarships, and applications can still be submitted until January. He underlined: “two more important steps in the development of cooperation between Hungary and the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.”
The minister concluded by stating that the stability, peace and security of the Western Balkans are an important national security interest of Hungary
“There is a war going on in our eastern neighbor, so any destabilization coming from the south would have a tragic impact on Hungary’s national security. Hungary pursues a responsible neighborhood policy. And within this framework, we will do everything to ensure peace and stability in the Western Balkans,” he emphasized. He then pointed out that the government therefore supports the region’s European integration, economic development, and the development of its education and training system. “It is a bad joke that in Brussels, Ukraine is considered more prepared for European Union membership than the Western Balkan countries (…) The Western Balkan countries are prepared, they would bring economic growth and strengthening to the European Union. In comparison, Ukraine can bring danger, war and the Ukrainian mafia to the European Union,” he warned.
