Péter Szijjártó: Hungary also has a competitive advantage in the food industry in Central Asia
In recent years, the importance of Central Asia has increased, and Hungary started building relations with the countries of the region much earlier than other actors, so today it has a competitive advantage in this respect, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Affairs Péter Szijjártó announced on Monday in Budapest.
At a joint press conference with his Kyrgyz counterpart, Zseenbek Kulubayev, the head of the ministry reported that Central Asia has now become significantly more valuable, after the war in Ukraine and the imposed sanctions made previously well-functioning transit routes and trade relations virtually impossible.
“For this reason, the physical routes and partly the procurement sources of trade with the Eastern world have been transferred to the Central Asian region. Since Hungary participates as an observer in the work of the Organization of Turkic States, it is already present in this region, and this is a strategic advantage for us, we do not have to start our cooperation from scratch.”
– he underlined.
“We benefit a lot from this cooperation, and we also assert our competitive advantage”
– he stated. In this regard, he reminded the previous criticisms of the government in this regard.
