Stricter Conditions on the Merger of Discount Stores Plus and Netto
Decreased ownership, 370 stores to sell, not a joint purchasing – this are the most important conditions by German Cartel Office for giving green line on 20 June.
It said the cartel office will not allow Netto-owner Edeka and
Plus's parent Tengelmann to undertake joint purchasing under the
proposed deal to combine Plus and Netto. The office also has
misgivings about Tengelmann's plan to own a 30 percent shareholding
in a company that would be jointly formed and managed with Edeka, it
added. Tengelmann has to sell 370 Plus stores out of the total 2,900
in Germany.
