Hungarian authorities strictly control Ukrainian grain
Not only the Ukrainian grain passing through the country, but also the quality of the crops that arrive here are constantly checked. The government’s goal is still to ensure that only high-quality and safe food reaches the Hungarian people, Minister of Agriculture István Nagy, who took part in the inspection of Nébih employees in Adony, stated on his social media page.
The head of the ministry reminded that in the month of May, about 650 checks were carried out by the employees of the county government offices during the grain storage checks combined with the sampling of grain products. During the tests, the experts also checked the Ukrainian grain batches in the warehouses. According to the data so far, more than 871,600 tons of grain are currently stored in the controlled storage areas. The authorities comply with all food chain safety rules regarding grain arriving on the Hungarian market and subject it to strict control, he added.
István Nagy pointed out that by the beginning of June, 53 samples of corn batches had arrived at Nébih’s laboratory
Among them were several Ukrainian samples, which the agency’s specialists check for GMOs, pesticides, mycotoxins, and radiological contamination. The Minister of Agriculture emphasized that the results of the investigations also show that the path of Ukrainian grain passing through our country is accompanied by strict controls. Thanks to strict regulations and regular inspections, Hungarian food products are among the safest in the world. He explained that every business has a direct responsibility to use only grain that complies with EU and domestic regulations. The food chain safety authority is also examining this basic legal responsibility. Only high-quality and safe products can be put on the table of Hungarian families – emphasized the minister.
