Danone to create a cattle farm in Siberia
Milk is so expensive in Russia that Danone, in agreement with local farmers, decided to move some thousands of cows from Europe to Siberia – napi.hu wrote.
Milk and, in particular, dairy products, especially butter, have become more expensive all over the world. The price increase also affected Russia, but there were geopolitical factors affecting the prices as well – the gazeta.pl wrote. Moscow in response to the Western sanctions has introduced an import restriction on EU food.
Danone sees the solution in strengthening local milk production and has decided to establish a cow farm in Siberia where cows are transported from Europe. Five thousand Holstein-Friesian cattle will be transported with trucks from the Netherlands and Germany. The last consignments will arrive in September. (napi.hu)
