A fire ban will apply to the entire country from Wednesday
Due to the heat wave and persistent lack of precipitation affecting the entire country, a fire ban will come into effect in the entire territory of our country from June 25, 2025. According to this, starting from Wednesday, it is forbidden to light fires in Hungarian forests, in forest stands along railways and roads, and in designated fire areas. Furthermore, burning of wasteland and grass is also not permitted during the period of increased fire risk.
Throughout the country, the heat wave and lack of precipitation have dried out the biomass in forests and in adjacent areas. The risk of fire has increased in all areas covered with woody, dry plants. Due to the drought conditions and the extremely dry biomass, even a slight wind can result in rapid fire spread, and surface fires can easily develop into crown fires with flame heights of 15-30 meters.
Considering the increased fire risk, the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih), with the consent of the National Directorate General for Disaster Management of the Ministry of the Interior, will impose a fire ban throughout Hungary from June 25, 2025.
During the fire ban, it is prohibited to light fires in forests and woodlands located on outlying properties, as well as within a 200-meter radius of them, including fire pits in areas marked on the interactive fire ban map, forested areas along railways and roads, as well as wasteland and grass burning.
You can find out about the current fire ban and fire rules on the map located on the website www.erdotuz.hu or www.katasztrofavedelem.hu.
The authority asks the public to be extra careful to comply with the fire ban, as their responsible behavior can prevent enormous environmental and property damage! 1 second of attention can prevent 100 hours of firefighting and 100 years of forest restoration!
